Starting a first conversation
Choose a character from Companions and read the details before writing. Introduce your role, then give the companion something specific to respond to. For example, describe arriving at a bookshop before closing and asking for a recommendation. One clear situation is easier to continue than several unrelated instructions.
Keep identifying information, payment details and passwords out of the conversation. You can use a fictional name and background without borrowing the identity of a real person.
Returning to a story
Continue the existing conversation when you want its earlier events to remain relevant. A different setting or relationship can be easier to manage in a separate thread. If a detail has changed, say what changed instead of assuming the companion will infer it.
Archiving and resetting serve different purposes. An archived conversation can be restored; a reset removes its history. Review history controls before using Time Travel or editing an older message, because later messages can be removed.
Finding the right controls
SMS changes the presentation toward shorter replies; Paragraph is for a longer response. Thinking level and chat mode are separate choices. A slower reply is not a reason to keep resending the same message.
Start with reply and memory settings when you want to change an exchange. Use Group Chat for several companions and Personas for your own saved role. For account recovery, use the sign-in guidance under Account rather than putting account credentials into chat.
Questions
Is a character replying as a real person?
No. You are conversing with an AI character. Its name, voice and portrait describe a fictional identity, not a human operator or a person available to meet.
Does writing a message spend Moments?
Ordinary text chatting follows your plan allowance rather than spending Moments per message. Images and other media requested during a conversation have separate eligibility and charges.
Where can I get help with a missing conversation?
Check the archived conversations in User Settings first. If it is not there, contact support with the account email and an approximate time. Never send your password.
