Give your companion a starting identity

Decide what makes the character worth talking to before choosing every visual detail. A clear personality and a setting give the first conversation somewhere to go.

Read the creation steps

Build a consistent character brief

Choose an original adult identity and a realistic or anime appearance. Name the character, establish their background and decide what brings them into conversation with you. Make the details agree: an experienced traveler who enjoys meeting people needs a different opening from a reserved neighbor who rarely leaves home.

A helpful brief includes a few defining traits, a specific interest and the way the character speaks. Instead of listing every possible personality, explain how they respond when curious, uncertain or excited.

Keep appearance and behavior separate

Hair, eyes, clothing and visual style guide the look. Personality and background guide the interaction. A voice choice changes how supported audio sounds; it does not replace a written description of the character's interests or manner.

Our character creation steps walk through identity, appearance and later editing. Review the creation preview and any Moments total before confirming. Additional custom characters are listed at 500 Moments; check first-character eligibility in your account.

Companion, persona or a new scene?

Create a custom companion when you want to change who answers. Use a persona when you want to change your own role. A new story with an existing companion may only need a new opening situation rather than another character.

Do not build a companion around a celebrity, a private individual or someone else's identifying details. Choose fictional adults and keep the interaction within our content rules. Editing an existing personality is an Ultimate feature, so separate the initial setup from changes you may want later.

Questions

Do I need a long biography?

No. Start with the facts that affect a conversation: who the character is, what they care about and why they are in the scene. Unrelated details can make the premise harder to follow.

Can I change the visual style later?

Review the supported Character Studio controls before making a change. Appearance, personality and public-character review use different workflows; do not assume every field updates in the same way.

Is custom-character chat part of the daily Free limit?

Free custom-character access has a separately documented total cap of 100 messages. It is not an additional daily allowance of 100. Check your account's current eligibility before planning a longer story.

Who will you talk to first?
